It’s a Ga-zan-y World

The inspiration for this quilt came from a digital picture of a gazania on a bank. Looking at the gazania’s detail and organization against the chaotic world we live in gave me the idea for fusing the two into a quilt.

I used Photoshop on the picture to get the effect that I wanted and then sent the picture out to be printed on Kona cotton. One side of the border is a commercial hand dye and the other side is the backside of a commercial fabric I used just for the color on the back.

The entire quilt is free motion quilted. The border is free motion quilted with my own design of flowers and leaves and then colored using Inktense pencils. The quilt was then embellished with beads and the border finished with five strands of couched yarns.
