Global Warming

While living in the Midwest I looked forward to the first blooms of spring. It meant that the gray of winter

was finally over.

This quilt symbolizes that feeling of the cold loosing its grip and the promise of

warmer weather. The eagerly

anticipated “Global Warming”.

Photo printing and soft-edged applique is enhanced with thread sketching. The vase is created with layers of tan and navy fabrics. Color washes on unprimed canvas with Stewart Gill paints and water color crayons create the early spring light coming through the window. Added accents and blending of flowers with acrylic paints.

Fibers include cotton, lace on a tulle background and various silks. Machine quilted with several types of Superior threads including glitter and polyester.

Currently traveling with the Noble Seasons: Springing Forward exhibit.
