Half Way to Monet

45.5w x 30.5h

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. Being red-green color blind this is the time of year when the colors are most vibrant and true for me. I wanted this quilt to reflect the air after a spring storm when it is washed clean and all the flowers are most vibrant.

TECHNIQUES: Soft-edged appliqué  that was free cut and enhanced with variegated thread. Fibers include Ghana batik cottons, dupioni and shibori silk ribbons which were used to create texture in some of the flowers and grass blades. Machine quilted with several types of threads including glitter and polyester. Additional techniques for embellishment include beading.
