 Not So Heavy Metal

This quilt was born from a technique learned in a Jane LaFazio class on sun printing. The original design intent was to use leaves and flowers. The leaves and flowers thing didn’t inspire me so I took a trip through the garage.  The center is a hand dyed sun print created from objects that were found in the "Man Cave". I then embellished the quilt with the actual objects to echo the dyed images. This includes a partial bicycle chain ring, paper clips, hinges and plastic washers. In addition the quilt has glass bead embellishments, copper mesh, a couched ball chain and hand dyed silk organza. The quilt is machined quilted and finished with an organic edge to continue the "wonky" design feel.
