My Square Foot Garden
This quilt was born from a love of using the unexpected on quilts. Everyone is talking about global warming or the new ice age but what it really comes down to is just the seasons and the normal ebb and flow of the earth’s cycles.
Using both organic shapes and words brings a personal element to the viewer. I love working with a muted complimentary color scheme which makes the vegetables pop in the design but is also soft and restful.
This quilt was designed on a computer and printed out on fabric. This was then hand painted for the background. Hand dyed fabric was then used for the machine appliquéd plants. Free motion machine quilting contrasts with the softer shapes.
