Where fiber, paint and thread go "From Edge 2 Edge"

Welcome to the quilted fiber art website of "From Edge 2 Edge"
David Charity and Trish Charity's attempt at going global with their art quilts.

TA DAA! Art quilts and quilted fiber art are now posted in the From Edge 2 Edge gallery

We are so glad you found our art quilt website, I know it was probably a long hike to our little corner of the internet located in the southern California town of Temecula, Ca.  Here are a few fun facts about us and our quilted fiber art.

We are somewhat unusual in that we are a husband and wife who create fiber art quilts. We work together in the same studio but not on the same quilts. We have talked about an art quilt collaborative project but there is nothing definite on the horizon at this time.

David and I work side by side in a dedicated studio area and share a design wall. Our "guest" room was recently converted to an additional supply room where we keep our infrequently accessed supplies. That means anything that doesn't have to do with fabric, thread, or sharp pointy things that can stab fingers or remove them if one is not careful.

My (Trish Charity) inspiration comes mostly from local areas in and around Temecula, nature, the shapes and the colors. I love textures and I try to incorporate as much as I can in my pieces. I have discovered after seeing some of my pieces grouped together that I have a definite color bias. I currently do most of my work on my Pfaff 1475 CD sewing machine. I also own a fabulous Singer Featherweight that I use.

David's main inspiration comes from his love of the Bible and interpreting his themes in both symbolic and realistic designs. David has not met a material he will not try to afix to fabric. He has used papyrus, bottle tree pods, stones along with the more common, beads, yarns, etc.

David does amazing thread work with his Janome "power tool" and he has pushed me to be more creative and bold with my stitch work. There is not a spool of thread that is safe in the house with David around. David will use anything if it will give him the look he is after. I am sure if he could figure out how to put fishing line on the spool spindle, he would use that also.

David and I hope you enjoy your visit, get a little chuckle now and then as I continue to "tweak" the site.  Most of all we want you to enjoy the quilts and find inspiration on our pages.

Don't forget to visit our links to see the people and groups that inspire us.

Browse our art quilt gallery and links to see who and what is inspiring us.
I will be adding more content in the next few weeks. I hope that you will continue to visit and see what new items are added.

We are on the Web....

AND with a new LOGO!

David and I have been creating fiber art quilts together since 2007. I have been quilting since the mid-1980's but I started out more traditional. David on the other hand jumped in with both feet into the fiber art quilt world.

The pressure is now on to get this site up and running. We have decided it is time to have our own web presence as we keep getting asked for our website. It will continually change as we get better at building our content.

Please let us know how we are doing. You can address your remarks on the contact page. Thank you for visiting and thank you for any comments you share with us.

More about what we do as art quilters:

As the postcard for the show that is at "The Framery & Fine Art Gallery" says: "Painters use paint, and fiber artists use fabric and less traditional textiles to create works which encompass abstracts to pictorials. Color, design, composition and meaning are the foundation of all fine art and is no less true here."

I think that says it all.
